Riding lessons, hacks, pony parties and more…

Listed here are the lessons, rides and activities available at Glebe Field Riding School if you require more information then please give us a call on 01825 872198 to discuss your individual requirements.

Please see our timetable for confirmation of exact times and read our terms and conditions.

Assessment lessons
Assessment lessons can be booked in advance as a private or group lesson. This will ensure that you get the most out of your lesson at a time that suits you and enable us to ascertain your riding level. Please download and complete the on line Rider Registration Form and bring it with you for your first lesson.

Riding lessons
Adults — private or group lessons for beginners to novice and more advanced riders. We also run clinics for riders wanting to bring in their own horse/pony to improve their riding skills or work towards dressage or jumping. Just call us to discuss your individual requirement.

Children — we have 14 ponies to cater for group lessons, private lessons or after school lessons for complete beginners to novice and advanced riders. Group lessons have no more than 6 students in a lesson.

Tiny tots — lead rein lessons from 4 years upwards are available on a Saturday and offer our younger riders their first experience on horseback. They are escorted up into our beautiful 40 acre woods to enjoy a hack out with a qualified instructor, all off road. All our Tiny tots will learn to ride with an independent seat before having school lessons. Tiny Tots lessons can be available during weekdays by appointment.

Hacks can be individual or in groups. We can cater for hen parties, pub rides, birthday parties or just a quiet ride through the woods, bridle paths and roads. Hacks are always accompanied unless taking out a loan horse/pony.

Coffee Mornings
Coffee mornings are an opportunity to enjoy a relaxed way of learning to ride. We have a lovely cafe with decking outside overlooking the yard and horses, what I call horsey heaven. Enjoy a leisurely ride with your friends a coffee and a horsey chat about your lesson and your favourite horse – we may even throw in a biscuit or two after all we will have burnt it off!! Coffee mornings are on a monday morning all through the summer months – May to September.

We have several horses and ponies that can be loaned out 3 times a week excluding Saturdays. Loan owners need to take out their own insurance which we can discuss at the time of loaning. We can do a Sunday only loan for those with less time. Loans are only available for our more experienced riders, please see our terms and conditions.

Pony parties
Our popular pony parties last between two to three hours, and we can tailor them to your child’s individual requirements, for example the party could include grooming and tacking up their ponies, a hack out, followed with a Gymkhana in the school. No riding abilities are necessary as one to one help is at hand for complete beginners. Price to be arranged depending on numbers and duration, please give us a call to discuss.

Own a pony day
Pony days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school holidays. The day consists of each child owning their own pony, every child has a helper unless experienced. The ponies are brought in from the field, groomed, tacked up and then we set off for a morning ride in our surrounding wood land. The ponies are then untacked and given their lunch whilst the children have theirs. The afternoon consists of a Gymkhana with various heats to suit each child’s experience. Parents are welcome to watch and cheer, the day ends with the presentation of rosettes. Our qualified instructors and helpers are on hand to ensure that the children have plenty of fun and build up their confidence in a safe environment. These pony days are perfect for groups of children for example brownies, guides etc or for individuals to meet like minded children and learn all aspects of keeping or riding a pony, riding experience is not necessary. Our Pony days are very popular so please book well in advance.

Riding for special needs
We offer facilities for disabled riders and their parents or carers. Our staff are highly experienced and trained in helping riders with various disabilities and are on hand to assist and to ensure that their horse riding experience is safe and fulfilling. Please call us for more information,

We also offer clinics by arrangement, for those wanting to improve their riding skills on their own horse/pony whilst helping to build the crucial partnership between horse and rider. Specialist clinics are available to work towards dressage, show jumping and cross country. Please call us for further information and dates.
